How will the roster shake out at running back?

Lorenzo Taliaferro’s multi week injury affects the Ravens in more than one way.  Not only does it catapult rookie runner Buck Allen to #2 duties behind starter Justin Forsett, but it also opens up a roster spot for one of either Fitzgerald Toussaint or Terrence Magee.

The Ravens know what they have in Toussaint after he bounced between the practice squad and active roster last season.  He appeared in 4 games in 2014, receiving only 6 carries for 12 yards (2.0 avg) and 3 receptions for 27 yards.

Last week against the Eagles, Toussaint received only 3 carries while undrafted rookie Terrance Magee received 11.  Toussaint was more productive on his carries (27 yards, 6.7 avg compared to 44 yards, 4.0 avg), but this battle is certainly worth monitoring.

The Ravens will likely have to keep one of the two if Taliaferro’s injury lasts into the regular season, which they expect it will.  Toussaint has the leg up right now as a known commodity, but a strong showing by Magee could change that.
