Amazingly, Steve Smith served as the punt returner in this one, taking 2 back for 32 yards. It is a shocking and problematic development considering Smith’s age and the fact that he’s the number one receiver. Let’s hope the Ravens come to their senses before next week.
Nick Boyle, (also) shockingly, received the team’s only kick return and took it back 10 yards. Michael Campanaro, expected to be the returner for punts and kicks, stuck strictly to offense in this one.
Meanwhile, the kicking game was excellent as usual. Justin Tucker hit both field goal attempts with a 52 yard long, and made his only extra point attempt.
Sam Koch got lots of work thanks to the terrible offensive performance, punting 6 times for 310 yards (51.7 avg). Two were downed inside the 20.
