The Baltimore Ravens have a bright future at the tight end position despite Dennis Pitta‘s current situation. Here in Baltimore there’s always been a reliable tight end for Joe Flacco to throw to. Flacco and Pitta are close buddies off the field, and Pitta is Flacco’s go-to guy on the field. In the 2015 draft, the Ravens found two rookie tight ends who played well this season and look to stick around for next season.

Crockett Gillmore

Gillmore was tasked with becoming the number 1 tight end this season with Pitta still trying to recover from his second hip injury. Gillmore stepped up showed the Ravens that they have a secure starting tight end who can go up and catch the football and gain yards after making a catch. At 6″6 and 270 pounds, Gillmore can go up and catch just about anything thrown his way.

Despite missing the final four games of the season with a back injury, and two games earlier in the season, Gillmore still put up good numbers in a down season for the Ravens.

GP: 10

REC: 33

YARDS: 412

TD: 4

Gillmore will likely be the starter next season, and the more chemistry he develops with Flacco, the better he’ll become. If Gillmore can stay healthy next season he could put up double what he put up this season. I fully believe that he can become one of the deadliest redzone threats in the league with his size and strength. Also, if he becomes a fan favorite, the cheerleaders should change their name to Gillmore Girls.
