Jalen Ramsey is surely an option for the Baltimore Ravens who have the sixth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Ravens secondary has been a problem area for the past couple of years. The Ravens need at corner is profound especially with Ladarius Webb’s move to the free safety position. Jalen Ramsey would be the perfect answer for the Ravens needs.

Ramsey is a thick bodied 6’1″ defensive back who can play both free safety and cornerback. Ramsey has good speed, plays with sound technique and has the ability to make quarterbacks fear him. At Florida State, Ramsey was an All-American cornerback who got great results on the field. There isn’t a more versatile or more athletic defensive back in this draft class.

Strengths:

More from Ravens Draft

  • Good man to man corner. Plays excellent in bump and run coverage
  • Great recovery speed, perfect size for a physical cornerback
  • Has ball skills and can turn defense to offense
  • Can make open field tackles, he recorded 122 solo tackles in three years at FSU
  • Versatile defensive weapon with 5 sacks, four forced fumbles and three interceptions on his resume
  • Good instincts, high football IQ and can jump routes

Concerns:

  • Is he to physical for the overly flagged NFL?
  • Can he make an immediate impact as a rookie starter?

Draft Stock:

Ramsey is far and away the best cornerback prospect in this draft class. Ramsey will not likely make it out of the top 10 picks as he has off the charts kind of talent. The Ravens will have a chance to get him with the sixth overall pick but there is no promise that he lasts that long.

Why He Fits With The Ravens:

Ramsey would be a nice compliment opposite of Jimmy Smith. With a potential pair of lockdown cornerbacks the Ravens defense could really transform.
