There is no doubt that Vernon Hargreaves III is a talented cornerback. At a top-tier SEC school he has been tested against some of the best athletes college football has to offer. Is the Florida Gators defensive back an option for the Baltimore Ravens?
Hargreaves is a speedy 5-11, 199 pound corner. He is always active, and is clearly a high effort player. In three seasons with the Gators Hargreaves recorded 10 interceptions, four of which came in 2015. This is a cornerback that makes quarterbacks pay for bad throws.
Strengths:
More from Ravens Draft
- NFL Draft Profile: Anthony Richardson is the perfect pivot for Baltimore Ravens
- Should the Baltimore Ravens trade up for Anthony Richardson?
- 5 Georgia Bulldogs the Ravens might draft to follow Todd Monken
- Ravens prepare for Marcus Peters’ departure in 2023 mock draft
- One 2023 NFL Draft prospect the Ravens ‘should be watching’
- Good back pedal, naturally fluid movement
- Good overall speed and acceleration.
- Can be great in zone coverage, good in man to man
- Ball skills, good at tracking the football in the air
- Good at timing hit to disrupt catch without getting flagged.
Concerns:
- A very lean 5-11 frame
- Creative arm tackler who does not play the run particularly well
- Played off receivers a lot (though this could be how he was coached to do it), would like to see more physical coverage.
Draft Stock:
Hargreaves is surely a first round talent who won’t last long on the board. Depending on what teams value he could be their number one cornerback or number two. I have Hargreaves rated behind Jalen Ramsey.
Next: Ravens Legends: Michael McCrary
I think the sixth overall pick is a bit of a reach for Hargreaves. If the Ravens moved just outside of the top-10 and he was still on the board, it would be hard to pass on him. Laquon Treadwell and Jalen Ramsey are my top two choices. Hargreaves is very good though. He would be a good scheme fit for the Ravens.
