8. Lenny Moore

Lenny Moore was a powerful running back for the Colts. He played from 1956-1967. He was elected to the Pro Bowl in seven of his 12 seasons. He had 5,174 rushing yards and 6,039 receiving yards. He scored 63 touchdowns on the ground and 48 receiving touchdowns. At the time Moore was a unique running back because he was used so frequently as a weapon in the passing game.

What is important to remember about Moore was his big play capability. Moore had a career average of 16.6 yards per reception and 4.8 yards per carry. He was a go to weapon for the Colts. He was a big part of the Colts consecutive championships in 1958 and 1959. His best statistical season was in 1961 when he had 648 rushing yards (averaging 7.1 yards per carry) and had 728 receiving yards.

Moore was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1975. He was a running back that did things way ahead of the times. Moore was a utility back who could do it all. He was a special player and is beloved in Baltimore as a wonderful person. He truly represents the best of the best when it comes to Baltimore football.
