1999 NFL Draft

Draft Grade: A-

Ravens Selections:

  1. Round 1: Chris McAlister, CB (Arizona) 10th Overall Pick
  2. Round 4: Brandon Stokely, WR (SW Louisiana) 105th Overall Pick
  3. Round 4: Edwin Mulitalo, OL (Arizona) 129th Overall Pick
  4. Round 7: Anthony Poindexter, S (Virginia)

The Ravens drafted the sixth starter on the 2000 defense with the 10th overall pick. Chris McAlister in his prime was one of the best shut down cornerbacks ever to play. He had the perfect skill set to be an aggressive cornerback. He was a physical corner that wasn’t afraid to hit running backs like a linebacker.

Brandon Stokely and Edwin Mulitalo were part of the offense that would win a Super Bowl in their second season. Mulitalo paired perfectly with Ogden on the left side of the offensive line. The Ravens knew just what to do with that combination, they ran behind those two powerful offensive linemen. Brandon Stokely was a quick slot receiver who played with a high football IQ and a lot of heart.
