3. History Repeats Itself

The Ravens faced a very similar situation going into the offseason before the 2012 season. Marshall Yanda and Ben Grubbs were both set to hit the open market. The Ravens knew that they had to choose between the two offensive linemen. It is very important to understand that having two top-level guards, is a luxury most teams cannot afford. In the same predicament in 2016, the Ravens chose Marshall Yanda over Osemele.

It shows you how much the Ravens value Marshall Yanda, who is arguably on his way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day. The fact that the Raiders made Osemele the highest paid player at the guard position, after the Ravens had already locked up Yanda for the rest of his career is amazing. Twice the Ravens had to chose between their legendary right guard or a top-tier left guard. They chose their right guard in both crossroad moments.

The Ravens offensive line moving forward is pretty much set. Eugene Monroe will be the left tackle. John Urschel replaces Osemele and Jeremey Zuttah remains the center. Yanda is the right guard and Rick Wagner is the right tackle. The Ravens would be wise to find a quality back up option to Monroe, but the offensive line looks like it will be in solid shape even without Osemele.
