  • Everything You Need to Know About Benjamin Watson

Benjamin Watson was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2004. He played for the Patriots for the first seven seasons of his career, with mild success. His best season as a Patriot was in 2006 where he had 49 receptions for 643 yards and three touchdowns. Watson became known as a solid tight end but he hadn’t achieved star status.

In 2010 Watson signed with the Cleveland Browns. Watson’s arrival in Cleveland was an instant success. In his first season with the Browns, he caught 68 receptions for 763 yards and three touchdowns. Then Jordan Cameron came to the Browns and took the lead role at the tight end position. In his last two seasons his production cut about in half.

Watson’s next stop was at the Superdome to play for the New Orleans Saints. With plenty of weapons and Jimmy Graham, Watson was seldom used in the passing game. His main function with the Saints was as a blocker. That was until Graham was traded to the Seattle Seahawks. Watson got the opportunity he had waited for his whole career in 2015. Watson grabbed 74 Drew Brees passes for over 800 yards and six touchdowns. Now Watson is with the Ravens, where he will continue to be used like the weapon he is.
