#1 Overall: The Los Angeles Rams select

51.
The Rams moved up all the way from #15, parting ways with a boatload of picks, to have the opportunity to select a franchise quarterback with the #1 overall pick. With the move to Los Angeles, the Rams are rebooting the franchise, and what better way to go than with the kid from California who is the most pro-ready QB in this year’s draft? Los Angeles fans have to be excited with this pick, and with a stout defense and strong running game behind him, Goff will be set up better than most rookie QBs going #1 overall.

Goff reminds me a lot of Matt Ryan. He has a quick release and can throw receivers open down the field. He’s produced at the highest level of college football and can read coverages like a veteran. His poise and pocket presence is superior to most quarterbacks coming out. His play-fake sucks in linebackers allowing for receivers to get open behind them and has good fundamentals with setting his feet and following through. Rather than every pass coming out like a bullet, Goff is effective at putting touch on his intermediate to deep passes. However, he does tend to lose his accuracy on seemingly routine throws and played in a shotgun-only offense.

Nevertheless, Goff will be a Day 1 starter and will produce in an offense with the likes of Tavon Austin and Todd Gurley, two elite offensive play-makers. Did anyone really believe Jeff Fisher saying Case Keenum would be their starting quarterback?
. QB. Cal. Jared Goff. 1. player
