#2 Overall: The Philadelphia Eagles select:

2. player. 54.
The Eagles moved up from the #8 pick in order to take the strong armed, yet mobile quarterback out of FCS level North Dakota State. Even though they resigned QB Sam Bradford and also signed QB Chase Daniel, the Eagles are looking for their long-term solution at quarterback.

With the departure from Chip Kelly’s fast paced shotgun offense to more of a traditional West Coast offense under Doug Pederson, the Eagles want a balanced, less-predictable offense. Taking Wentz at #2 is a good situation for both parties, the Eagles get their QB of the future and Wentz doesn’t have to get thrown into the fire right away. The same situation has worked for quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Tony Romo, in which they can sit and learn the ins and outs of the game before they take the field.

Wentz is a big boy, standing 6’5″ with elite arm strength and impressive mobility. His level of competition wasn’t all that strong, but he is intelligent and will learn the pro game quickly behind Bradford. He reminds me of our own Joe (Elite) Flacco. Wentz is a more mobile and played in a pro-style offense in college, but Joe’s arm was stronger and his deep ball was better coming out of Delaware. Wentz can be a special player in this league, he’s got great intangibles and can lead the Eagles for the next decade.
. QB. North Dakota State. Carson Wentz
