Not the sexiest pick for a team that is practically rebuilding its entire roster, but an important one nonetheless. Losing Mitchell Schwartz to the Chiefs was a tough blow, as he was one of the more steady tackles in the league. Stanley can come in right away and play on the right side. The Browns need to keep Robert Griffin III healthy and upright, and I believe he can be a pretty good quarterback in this league, with the right supporting cast. No wide receivers were really worthy of a pick this high and Vernon Hargreaves isn’t a great fit when you’ve already got a similar corner in Joe Haden. Ezekiel Elliott would be a great fit here but could be a little too high for him.

Stanley can be a good, maybe even elite tackle in the league. He has long arms and boxer hands that he uses to keep pash rushers at bay. He has good quickness and change of direction ability, but struggles with power rushers. He is weak for a tackle however, only putting up 24 reps of 225 lbs at his pro day. For an offensive tackle that isn’t good, it’s on par with running back Derrick Henry who had 22 reps and is 2″ shorter and almost 75 lbs lighter. He needs to get stronger to handle the monstrous pass rushers of the NFL.

He reminds me of D’Brickashaw Ferguson, who just retired. They are both athletic for their size, but are more finesse tackles rather than an ideal combination of strength and speed like Tunsil. Ferguson was stronger and was a steady tackle, but had trouble staying healthy. Stanley has a high ceiling, but also has a high bust potential, aka the perfect Cleveland Browns’ pick.
. OT.
