Baltimore Ravens: Top 5 Draft Steals Of All Time
1. Ray Lewis
With use of the same logic, the Ravens got a steal with Ray Lewis. Lewis was the 26th selection in the 1996 NFL Draft. 25 teams passed up on the greatest linebacker of all time. I’m not even saying arguable, Ray was the greatest to ever play his position. There is a statue of Lewis outside M&T Bank Stadium, and for good reason. Lewis was the face of the franchise from the time he was drafted, to the time he walked off the field in a shower of Super Bowl confetti.
The Ravens had arguably the greatest first round ever in 1996. They drafted Jonathon Ogden (who has been inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame) with the fourth overall pick. They drafted Ray Lewis with the 26th overall pick. Two Hall of Fame players in one round, now that’s hard to beat. Ray Lewis should have been taken in the top 10 and the Ravens got him near the end of the first round.
