Baltimore Ravens Trade Back Predicted By Mike Mayock

The idea of trading with Tennessee and moving to the 15th pick doesn’t sound all that bad. The idea of drafting Josh Doctson, sounds pretty good. That idea was from Mike Mayock, who just did his one and only mock draft. The NFL Network analyst is one of the most respected people who cover the draft. That being said, his mock draft has gotten mixed reaction from Ravens fans. Is Mayock on to something good for the Ravens?

I personally would love the idea of trading back and taking Josh Doctson. We’d get a good player and we could get some extra draft picks in the process. The only player I am overly infatuated with in the top-10 is Jalen Ramsey. The Cowboys are probably drafting Ramsey. With that in mind, this sounds like a tremendous alternative.

More from Ravens Draft

The Ravens could use Laremy Tunsil. Truth be told (for the 100th time) I am not as sold on Tunsil as the rest of the football community. The Ravens would get more value by giving the Titans (or any other team) the opportunity to draft Tunsil. If the Ravens trade back there are a number of options for them to choose from.

Let’s talk about Mayock’s pick in Josh Doctson. I am a big fan of this big bodied TCU receiver. He has the potential to fill the Anquan Boldin void. That’s the kind of receiver he is; he is always open over his head and Joe can trust him to go get the tough catch. You saw what Flacco did with Boldin, he threw touchdowns passes to him on the way to the Super Bowl.

Doctson has had back to back years with 1,000 yards receiving. Doctson is a big 6’2″ target who caught 14 touchdown passes last season. He caught 78 passes in 2015 and had 64 in the prior season. Doctson is a big play waiting to happen. He averaged 17 yards per reception last season.

Next: The Final Mock Draft!

If you’re upset about the idea of getting more draft picks, taking a receiver that is perfect for Joe Flacco and having the opportunity to do more in a deep defensive draft…all I can ask is why? If the Ravens can’t get Ramsey, trading back seems like the best course of action.
