NFL Draft: First Round Grades For Every Team
Chicago Bears
OLB Leonard Floyd
C
I may not be a paid analyst, but this guy is super skinny to be a pass rusher. With that said, compares can be drawn to Aldon Smith who had a similar build, and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was with the 49ers when Smith was drafted. Despite the off the field issues, Smith turned out to be a great pass rusher; maybe, the same thing will be said about Floyd, but I don’t think he was worth trading up for.
Detroit Lions
T Taylor Decker
B
The Lions need help at several position, but Decker easily could have been their best available player. I thought there was a chance to see a receiver picked here, but offensive line makes sense. The Lions will need help protecting Matt Stafford since his favorite receiver retired.
Green Bay Packers
DT Kenny Clark
B
I don’t get this pick because there are too many good DT that are better than Clark. I’ll give the Packers the benefit of the doubt here because they draft really, really good. It is hard to criticize any pick they make without looking stupid in a couple of years.
Minnesota Vikings
WR Laquon Treadwell
A-
This is a good team drafting the best player on the board. A month ago, Treadwell was considered the top receiver in the draft, but he fell due to a 4.6 40 at his pro day. This guy does everything good even if he isn’t blazingly fast. They Vikings have plenty of speed, so Treadwell can be the possession receiver they need.
