Justin Forsett Is An Easy Player To Root For

Justin Forsett is 30 years old and has been employed by five NFL teams. Before he landed in Baltimore, Forsett had waited his turn to be a number one back. Forsett’s story is one of persistence.

He had started just seven games in his first seven seasons in the NFL. He was a third down back, a change of pace kind of player. In 2009-2010 he played an important role for the Seattle Seahawks. In both seasons he had over 100 rushing yards and a healthy yards per carry average.

After a handful of seasons with the Seahawks, Forsett went to the Houston Texans. He had 63 receptions for 374 yards. He had 5.9 yards per carry and scored a touchdown. He even had an 81 yard run. Forsett showed his ability but he was still waiting for his big shot.

After one uneventful season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Forsett found a home with the Ravens in 2014. It was the perfect fit at the perfect timing. The Ravens needed a running back to fill the Ray Rice void. With Gary Kubiak as the offensive coordinator, the team had recommitted to the zone blocking scheme. That’s the offensive style that gets the most out of Forsett’s skill set.

Forsett finally found his golden opportunity. The Ravens handed Forsett the rock 235 times in his first season in Baltimore. He rushed for 5.4 yards per carry and 1,226 yards. Forsett was on track to have another productive season last year. He broke his arm in week 11 against the St. Louis Rams. Forsett should enter the next season as the presumptive starter for the Ravens in the backfield.

Forsett is an easy player to root for. He waited and waited for his chance. He finally got his time to shine and he made the most of it. Forsett is only 5’8″ 195 pounds. He may be all muscle but that’s about as small as an NFL player gets. Forsett always had the ability to go toe to toe with anybody. He finally got a chance to show that he plays like a giant, despite being one of the shortest and lightest players on the field.

Forsett is the kind of player that you never hear a bad word about. His teammates seem to love him. Forsett has also become a fan favorite. You cannot have enough players like Forsett on your team. He is all heart. Forsett is an awesome story. The moral of the story is to stick with your dreams, because you may just rush your way to them!
