Baltimore Ravens Injuries Concern Meter

OLB Terrell Suggs – Torn Achilles – Level of concern: High
Terrell Suggs has been a tremendous player for the Ravens since they drafted him in 2003, but he’s 33 years old and is coming off a second torn Achilles, this time in his left leg. At a position in which explosiveness and burst play a big role in a player’s success, Suggs suffered an injury well known to zap both.
Coming back isn’t the issue for Suggs, as Coach Harbaugh said that he could return in training camp, rather it’s his ability to rush the passer effectively. Thankfully the Ravens drafted multiple pass rushers, but when healthy, Suggs and Dumervil are the best sack duo in the league.
If Suggs can prove the doubters wrong and return to his old form, then the entire defense will reap the benefits. Even if some explosion takes a while to return, he is one of the best run defenders in the league, so he can still be effective.
