OLB Elvis Dumervil – Foot Surgery – Level of concern: Low

Dumervil was reported to have had a clean-up type procedure somewhere in his foot early in the offseason and should be back before the start of the regular season. The injury wasn’t explained in much detail, but all in all Dumervil should be ready to go come week one. As with Suggs, Dumervil isn’t a spring chicken anymore at 32 years old. If his role is limited he can return to being a 15-sack type of player.

He was largely ineffective last season, as his partner in crime Terrell Suggs went down in week one. Dumervil had to play a starting role, playing almost every down and wearing his body down significantly. Dumervil stated that his injury greatly contributed to his down year, even though he still made the Pro Bowl and started every game.

With young pass rushers added through the draft, Dumervil will have the opportunity to come in as a pass rush specialist and wreak havoc on opposing offenses.
