1. The 2000 Defense

The Ravens won Super Bowl XXXV with one of the worst offenses ever to win it all. The Ravens went through a five game touchdown drought. They replaced Tony Banks with Trent Dilfer at the quarterback position eight games into the season. Showing you how much the Ravens thought about Dilfer, they cut him after the big game. No great defense had to do more for their team than the 2000 Ravens. Let’s look at how the defense lifted the entire team to Super Bowl glory.

The 2000 defense allowed the fewest rushing yards in a single season. Opponents only scored165 points, which is the fewest points allowed in a single season. Ray Lewis, who was truly incredible in his prime, was named the Defensive Player Of the Year. The Ravens had 23 interceptions and incredibly had 26 fumble recoveries.

The Ravens defense was unbelievable that season. The defense willed that team to a championship. To me there never has been and there never will be a defense greater than the 2000 Ravens. This is the defense that started the great run of defenses in Baltimore.
