The 2011 Defense

The Ravens had one season with Chuck Pagano as their defensive coordinator and it was a special one. Pagano was the defensive coordinator who brought an edge back to the Ravens defense. There were many memorable moments but none were as memorable as the 35-7 beatdown of the Steelers and the nine sacks against the 49ers on Thanksgiving.

The Ravens had an incredible season. If it were not for Lee Evans and Billy Cundiff they could have won the Super Bowl. Terrell Suggs was the defensive player of the year. This made him the third Ravens player to get this honor.

The 2011 defense was a dominant and nasty one. They rushed the passer. Ed Reed made quarterbacks crazy and Ray Lewis was still a dominant defender. The Ravens have had many great defenses. These were the top 5.
