The next man up mentality led to young players getting valuable experience for the Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens had a bad year. We’ve been there, we’ve covered the misery from wall to wall. We even talked about how the Ravens mindset can change for the better because of their failure. What we have not talked about is how the tough year impacted individual players. So today, that’s the track for our train of thought.

The Ravens biggest problem was obvious, they couldn’t stay healthy. Injuries hampered the Ravens from the very first game to the very last. Because the Ravens had to go through plan A, B, C, D, E, F and even G many young players got a chance to grow. On the job training is always the most rewarding way of learning. Injuries gave Ravens a chance, who would not have gotten on the field in any other circumstance.

Let’s look at the Ravens that got the most out of the horror filled season. These are Ravens who got a chance to shine on a team that did not shine. It was like preseason football, only the backups were playing against starters.  We will start with a wide receiver who was put in a situation we never thought he would be in.
