1. A Quarterback’s Best Friend

It’s an old expression for a reason, “a good run game is a quarterback’s best friend.” The Ravens need to remember this to get the most out of Joe Flacco. Without a strong rushing attack, Joe has to do it all. The running game offers Flacco some support, and is a good way to slow down pass rushers.

Secondly the run game opens up the play-action pass game. When you’re a zone blocking team, which the Ravens are, it can fool defenses. The offensive line moves as if it’s an outside zone rush. But it’s a pass. It’s beautiful football when it all comes together.

The better the Ravens run the football, the better they will pass the football. The deep shots to Mike Wallace will be a real threat if the Ravens rushing attack rules the day.
