5. Leadership By Example: Marshall Yanda

Marshall Yanda shows the entire team how it is done. He doesn’t just lead the offensive line, he shows the entire team what being a professional football player is all about. Yanda is one of the best offensive guards in the NFL, and the argument could be made that he’s an all-time great. He’s been with the Ravens ever since he was drafted in the third round in 2007. Since then, he has been the foundation of everything the Ravens do offensively.

Yanda is one of the best run blockers you will ever see. He puts forth his best performance every time he steps out on the field. He isn’t perfect, but he’s challenges himself to be great. His teammates feel compelled to match his effort. Leaders make players around them better. Yanda does that by setting the bar.

Number 73 doesn’t score the touchdowns. His work doesn’t end up in the box score. Yanda is an offensive lineman, the most selfless position on the football field. Everything Yanda does is for the team. That’s his style of leadership.
