2. What Happens At The Nickel Cornerback Spot?

In this day and age sub packages are practically your base defense in the NFL. The nickel cornerback is a position that gets more important every season. The Ravens look like they could be in trouble here.

Last week Jerraud Powers got the first look as the cornerback in the slot. He looked awful. Right away the Panthers exploited his lack of technique. Powers got beat inside for an easy first down. Kyle Arrington did not fair much better. Arrington looked awful. It seemed like he was merely jogging with the receivers. He couldn’t keep up and he offered little to no resistance.

When the veterans fail it is time to let a rookie shine. That is especially true when that rookie is a guy like Tavon Young. Young looks like he could be the best option at this position. While his highlights came on special teams against the Panthers, at least he had highlights in the first place. Therefore Ravens have to hope that Young can steal the job and perform at a high level.
