Joe Flacco’s Comfort Level

Saturday night marks the triumphant return of starting quarterback Joe Flacco, nine months after tearing his ACL and MCL. Flacco has fully participated in training camp this past month and looks as sharp as ever.

The next challenge he faces is getting hit, or more preferably, having pass rushers close by when he’s in the pocket. Flacco has been wearing the red “don’t touch me or you’ll get cut” jersey for the past month. He also has had a brace on his left knee. Taking a few hits and bumps without doing any damage will give us some confidence.

Flacco’s arm looks as good as ever. In practice he hasn’t turned the ball over more, and his command of the offense looks improved from last season.

The players around Flacco are also much better than last season. The team has added proven veterans like Mike Wallace and Benjamin Watson, while also adding an influx of youth in Chris Moore and Ronnie Stanley.

Flacco should be in line for one of his finest seasons yet, but that all depends on his own health and comfort level with his knee.
