2. Will Slow Starts Haunt This Team?

The Ravens got off to a 20-2 nightmare against the Browns. In the Ravens 13-7 win against the Bills you could argue that the offense never really got going at all. It may only be two games but it could be indicative of a disturbing trend.

Maybe the Ravens just played down to their competition against the Browns. This has been a problem dating back to the Billick era. The Ravens get up for the big clash with the NFL’s elite, while making the routine win in jeopardy.

The Ravens defense has actually played quite consistently. Take out the first quarter against Cleveland and we see 7 quarters of absolute dominance. After Dean Pees made some adjustments and the players woke up, the Ravens defense won the battle.

Maybe the Ravens slow start in Cleveland was due to heavy hearts, grieving the loss of Clarence Brooks. It’s possible that the Ravens came into the game needing a wake up call after a week one win. Whatever the problem was it needs to be fixed moving forward.
