Injuries could play a huge role in the Baltimore Ravens “Battle of the Beltway” against the Washington Redskins:

Injuries are an unavoidable part of the game and they could play a big role on Sunday. The Ravens placed Maxx Williams on injured reserve today as he will need surgery on his knee. Obviously you never like to see a young tight end go down, but this injury isn’t the end of the world. Dennis Pitta has taken over the top tight end spot, while Crockett Gillmore is also very good. There are however a handful of injuries that we need to keep our eyes on, heading towards Sunday.

Ravens Doubtful: Ronnie Stanley

The Ravens could see their second straight week starting somebody other than their sixth overall pick, Ronnie Stanley at left tackle. Stanley hasn’t practiced for two weeks, and his foot has been in a boot. According to Edward Lee of the Baltimore Sun we should expect to see Alex Lewis at left tackle and John Urschel. It will be nice to see Lewis back in the line up, after missing last weeks game. It also is our first chance to see him at the left tackle position. If he plays well, the Ravens would know that they have two viable options at left tackle. Stanley will take his starting role right back, but Lewis will be a nice contingency plan if he rocks in this chance to shine.

Ravens Questionable: Kenneth Dixon, Sheldon Price and Devin Hester

There is nothing to really worry about here. The first thing you have to remember is that there is no more probable status. It looks like a pretty strong chance that we’ll see Kenneth Dixon back in the mix. The Ravens can get by without Sheldon Price and Devin Hester has not brought much to the table in the return game and with muffed punts he has been a problem at times.

Bottom Line:

The left side of the offensive line is going to be key. Urschel hasn’t played yet this season but now he’s ready to go. Lewis has played pretty well at the left guard position, at least he’s exceeded the expectations of a rookie fourth round pick. When the Redskins bring the heat, the Ravens must be ready. Look for Kenneth Dixon to add some excitement into the offense. Terrance West got going last week, hopefully the run game can be key. That’s the injury news that we have right now, but we still have two days until the game.
