Take away the punt return for the Redskins first touchdown, the Baltimore Ravens defense only allowed 10 points. That shouldn’t beat you in the NFL.
The Baltimore Ravens lost a defensive slug fest against a team that ranked 29th in total defense before kickoff. The Ravens offense was bad. However from a statistical standpoint the Washington Redskins put forth a similar standpoint. In their 16-10 win the Redskins had 310 yards. The Ravens had 303 yards. Both teams earned 18 first downs. The Redskins converted on 25 percent of their third downs while the Ravens converted 20 percent.

The Ravens offense was terrible for most of this game (excluding their magnificent opening drive). The Redskins offense wasn’t exactly pretty. This means that the Ravens defense deserves credit just for keeping their team in the game. When the opposition scores only 10 offensive points, it should almost always equal a win.
The Ravens defense had one big mistake. A receiver ran by Jimmy Smith for a touchdown. Smith had a good game with this being his one big mistake. There is no cornerback that is unbeatable. In this era of football, defenses aren’t going to stop everything. The Ravens defense is more than good enough. When we started this game they were ranked number one in yards allowed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they remain number one when I wake up on Tuesday morning.
There is no disputing two facts of this 5 game old season. The offense is struggling. The defense is giving the Ravens a chance to win every game. Sam Koch punted eight times in this game. Koch has punted 26 times this season. If you think that’s a lot, the Ravens opponents have punted 32 times. Here’s another fun fact for you. The Ravens have scored 128 points this season. Justin Tucker has scored 80 of those points in field goals and extra points.

The Ravens defense is playing good football. The Ravens offense is not. After five weeks of the season, how can you argue that point? When the Ravens offense figures it out, this could be a pretty great team. After two straight losses the Ravens can’t have much patience.
