Luis Tirado Jr. Gives Us Perspective On Marty Mornhinweg
Marty Mornhinweg has some experience in this league. He Is former Jets offensive coordinator. I thought I would bring my pal Luis Tirado Jr. to give us some perspective. Luis is the expert at The Jet Press.
The Q&A will be a written recording of our conversation. My questions are in bold.
CS: Question 1: Things didn’t go so well for Mornhinweg when he was the Jets offensive coordinator. Was he the problem, or was it a lack of talent/QB?
LTJ: It was actually a talent problem. He is a good quarterbacks guy but what are you going to do when you have nobody to throw the football and nobody to throw it to.

CS: Question 2: What is the tell tale trait of a Mornhinweg offense, or at least what was it when he was with the Jets?
LTJ: He’s kind of a big play guy. He likes the big plays. He wants big plays down the field. Look for play-action passes and deep and intermediate routes mixed in with screens and the run game.
CS: Question 3: If you were a head coach and you could only pick Marc Trestman or Marty Mornhinweg as your offensive coordinator, who would it be?
LTJ: Mornhinweg. You needed change. Mornhenwig is good with the quarterbacks. You guys have Joe Flacco, you have talent. In a week or two, after it clicks you’ll see the real potential of the Ravens offense.
CS: Question 4: Is Mornhinweg a run first or a pass first coordinator?
LTJ: 100 percent pass oriented. Mornhinweg loves to throw the football. But he is going to adapt to his players and play to their strengths. He isn’t going to fall into the same problem as Trestman.

CS: Question 5: When Mornhinweg was with the Jets, what players did he lean on? Which Ravens players do you think he will use the most?
LTJ: When he was with the Jets he had nobody. Joe Flacco and Breshad Perriman have a chance to be the next big duo. Give it three weeks and it should be good.
