2016 is going downhill fast for the Ravens. If John Harbaugh cannot turn it around, he’s done.

You might think that John Harbaugh has been a great coach since the day he was hired. However I’ve been thinking lately about the recent struggles of the team.  Was he only successful due to the talent that was already in place?  You had team leaders in Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Haloti Ngata, Bart Scott, and more when John Harbaugh took over.  Harbaugh might’ve won the Super Bowl with those players, but those players were brought in by Ozzie Newsome during the Brian Billick era.

Since the Ravens won the Super Bowl, the Ravens are 26-29.  Is it the lack of talent that the Ravens have? Is it the fact that Harbaugh got rid of a lot of player’s that didn’t always agree with him?  This is Harbaugh’s team and he’s making all the decisions on the field. When a player makes a mistake, you don’t really see him play much anymore and he’s in the doghouse.

Eventually, it’s going to be Harbaugh losing his job because, at the end of the day, it’s his team.  Firing offensive coordinator after offensive coordinator isn’t going to help.  You can keep changing coordinators, but at the end of the day, you’re in charge of the team. If nothing changes, it’s going to be you on the hot seat.

Harbaugh has run out of excuses:

I’ve always been supportive of Harbaugh, but these last few years have made me wonder about him.  They’ve always struggled on the road. They get off to terrible starts and have to spend the rest of the game coming back. If they get down by at least 14, it’ll be a struggle for the rest of the game.

Injuries can’t be an excuse for the lack of wins these last few years, but the amount of injuries the Ravens have had lately is alarming.  At least they’ve been competitive, especially last season.  However look at the Patriots. It doesn’t matter how many injuries they have, Bill Belichick seems to get the very best out of his 2nd or 3rd string players.

If Harbaugh doesn’t make any significant changes during this bye week, then I have a big feeling that Steve Bisciotti won’t be able to keep him around for another season.  Bisciotti has been known to have patience, but after a while, changes need to be made in order to bring this organization back into title contention year after year like they were with Ray Lewis and Ed Reed on the team.  The draft strategy might need to be changed as well due to the lack of talent they have on both sides of the ball.

I’m hoping I’m wrong about this being John Harbaugh’s chance, but how much longer can we see this team struggle?  I’m always going to be a fan. After awhile though, change will need to happen in order to become a successful organization again.
