Rolando McClain

The unexpected retirement of Zach Orr is devastating to the Ravens. Orr had a fantastic season in 2016, leading the Ravens defense in tackles. The undrafted free agent even earned 2nd team All-Pro honors.

The Ravens are now in search for a replacement inside linebacker to play next to C.J. Mosley. It is possible the team could stick in house and go with Kamalei Correa, but if they search for free agents, Rolando McClain is not a good fit.

McClain was a standout linebacker of the University of Alabama, but his pro career has not panned out. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders and played two seasons before being released for off the field issues. The Ravens took a chance on him for the 2013 season, but he announced his retirement and never played a down for the team. He eventually made his return to football and joined the Cowboys, but was suspended for the first 10 games of the 2016 season for violating the substance abuse policy.

It is not worth taking a chance on McClain again. He is far from coming back into the league and he is too much of a risk.
