Lawrence Guy

2015 was an abysmal year for the Ravens, but Lawrence Guy was one of the lone bright spots. He spent the first five seasons of his career splitting time with the Colts and the Chargers, but eventually found a home in Baltimore. The defensive end had a breakout season, totaling 63 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Last season did not see the same numbers, but Guy continued to make his presence known on the field.

According to Baltimore Ravens staff writer Ryan Mink, here is why the Ravens should consider keeping Guy:

"Baltimore’s first priority on defense is stopping the run, and Guy is a reliable and flexible player to get that done. Guy likely won’t break the bank on the open market, and the Ravens know what they’re going to get with him. At 26 years old, Guy could still be on his way up."

Behind Guy there is unproven talent. Both Brent Urban and Bronson Kaufusi have dealt with injuries in the past. Keeping Guy would help keep the production at the defensive end while letting the younger players develop. With a win or bust season ahead in 2017, I do not think the Ravens should take a chance letting him go. It would be a safer option to lock up Guy for the future, even if it is on a short contract.
