Money can be used elsewhere

According to Mike Garafolo from NFL.com, Wagner is expected to make a big splash in free agency. He could be getting around $8 million a year, per the report.

$8 million a year is just not something the Ravens can afford to pay Wagner, no matter how much they want to keep him. On the bright side, that money can be used to spend elsewhere. I you think about it, that is $8 million a year that the Ravens do not have to pay Wagner. That money can be used to fill other needs on the team, especially in free agency.

During free agency, the Ravens are looking to add in a like Brandon Marshall, Pierre Garçon, or maybe even Terrelle Pyror. They want to make sure they have as much money as they can to make competitive offers. Signing a tackle for $3-4 million a year saves you money to go after these receivers.
