Baltimore Ravens Losing In Early Stages Of Free Agency
There Goes A Sensible Plan B:
This is the news from ESPN.com News Services:
"Garcon can’t finalize his deal with the 49ers until 4 p.m. Thursday, but when the contract is signed, league sources told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen they believe he will make $16 million in its first year."
Then Pierre Garcon got taken off the market. I have been writing all offseason that Garcon would be a common sense solution for the Ravens. The deal for Garcon is right where I thought it would be. It is not cheap but it is not exorbitant. If the Ravens wanted to make it happen they could have. That’s frustrating. The way things are going, can you really expect the Ravens to land Terrelle Pryor? If the even want to do it, they have to free up cap space.
The number one thing the Ravens needed to come up with this week was a wide receiver. With the 16th pick the Ravens will have great cornerbacks to choose from in the draft. The Ravens can fill their pass rushing needs too. The NFL Draft is a good chance to fill their other needs. Wide receiver is a critically important position. Look at Championship Sunday in the NFL playoffs. Julio Jones, Jordy Nelson, Antonio Brown and Julian Edelman were all competing that day. If the Ravens fail to get a wide receiver, they will have missed a huge chance to improve their roster.
