The Baltimore Ravens have officially signed Tony Jefferson and Danny Woodhead.

It was reported yesterday that the Baltimore Ravens had agreed to terms with safety Tony Jefferson and Danny Woodhead, but those deals could not be official until today. Once the 4pm free agency deadline hit today, the Ravens made the signings official. Jefferson will receive a 4 year, $36 million deal. Woodhead gets a 3 year deal but the rest of the contract details have not been released.

The $9 million a year is a big chunk to pay, but it is worth it for a player like Jefferson. He reportedly turned down more money from the Cleveland Browns to come play in Baltimore. His winning mentality and physicality on defense will bode very well for the Ravens. Jefferson is one of the best young safetys in the league and creates one of the best tandems in the league paired with Eric Weddle.

Woodhead adds another dynamic in the backfield. He is completely healthy from a torn ACL and can be a Darren Sproles like player for the Ravens. With the recent announcement of the Kenneth Dixon suspension, Woodhead can fill that void for the first four games.

Do Not Doubt Ozzie

After losing Rick Wagner and Kyle Juszczyk earlier into free agency, people began to freak out. It was not the start that the Ravens wanted. As the night came, Ozzie Newsome worked his magic and began going to work. The release of Shareece Wright, Kendrick Lewis, and Elvis Dumervil cleared enough space to make these moves.

Last night was a reminder to trust Ozzie Newsome and the Ravens front office. They know exactly what they want to do at the right time. The Ravens are an organization built on winning. Even with tight cap space, they can work around it and bring in big players. Bringing in Jefferson and Woodhead really helps offset the loss of Wagner and Juszczyk. The Ravens are in a good position going forward.
