Cornerback

The Ravens still need to address their biggest need, the cornerback position. It is something that came back to haunt them last season when Jimmy Smith missed the final stretch of games with an ankle injury. His replacement, Shareece Wright, has been released. This adds to the lack of depth for the Ravens at the position.

There is no doubt that the Ravens will draft a cornerback, but the question will be when. The cornerback class is very deep and potential starters could be found in the first 1-3 rounds. Potential target Sidney Jones suffered a torn Achilles in his pro day yesterday. Obviously we cannot see draft board for Ozzie Newsome but you have to think that this changes things.

In the free agency market, Morris Claiborne has been linked as an option. The former 1st round pick by the Dallas Cowboys has potential to come in a contribute, but he is injury prone. With past injuries to Jimmy Smith, it might not be a chance the Ravens want to take. If Claiborne is brought in, he could serve as a good #2 behind Smith if he can stay healthy. This would allow Tavon Young to stay in the slot.
