The Baltimore Ravens’ 2017 Preseason Schedule Is Out
That’s right, folks. Preseason football is completely meaningless, and it drives some of us crazy, but now we know which four teams the Baltimore Ravens will face before the regular season gets underway. Here is a quick breakdown of each game.
After the preseason schedule was released, the Ravens tweeted out a graphic depicting the games.
Mark your calendars.

Week 1: Home vs. Redskins – Thursday, Aug. 10
Just as they do almost every season, the Ravens will face the Redskins in the preseason, this time in “week 1.”
With renovations taking place at the Under Armor Performance Center, Ravens fans will not be able to attend training camp this summer. With that being said, this will be the first time that fans can see the 2017 team in-person.
In the first preseason game, starters that play typically stay in for a series or two, followed by the backups. Get ready for a lot of Ryan Mallett.
Week 2: Away vs. Miami Dolphins – Aug. 18-19
It is rare that the Ravens face AFC teams in the preseason, but this year they will do it twice.
The first road trip for Baltimore will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. I doubt that current Ravens players have any issue with going to Miami in the middle of August.
It is hard to judge how much starters will play in this game. Last year, the Ravens held their starters out until the third preseason game, but they had several starters returning from injury. This year, I expect starters like Joe Flacco and Mike Wallace to play a series or two, but a guy like Terrell Suggs will probably sit this one out.
Week 3: Home vs. Buffalo Bills – Aug. 25-26
Amazingly, for the eighth straight season, the Ravens will play their “dress rehearsal” preseason game in Baltimore, this time against the Buffalo Bills. The third preseason game is historically the game where most NFL teams play their starters for a half or more.
Last year, returning players like Flacco and Suggs only played a few series after coming off their significant injuries. This year, barring any injuries, Ravens fans can expect to see the projected starting 22 for a half. From this game, fans and experts will have a good feeling of what the 2017 Ravens will look like.

Week 4: Away vs. New Orleans Saints – Thursday, Aug. 31
For the third time in four years, the Ravens will wrap up the preseason in the same building where they won Super bowl 47, the Superdome. The cities of Miami and New Orleans make a great travel combination for the Ravens this preseason.
Of course, the last preseason game is oftentimes nothing to write home about. We will probably not see any starters, but we will see players battling for roster spots get a lot of playing time. If you were to ask almost any NFL beat reporter what their least favorite game to cover is, the fourth preseason game is probably it.
