Defensive End
Players Involved: Brent Urban, Bronson Kaufusi, Willie Henry
What started out as a fairly deep position at the beginning of free agency has quickly diminished. The Ravens lost Lawrence Guy to the Patriots and traded Timmy Jernigan to the Eagles. This leaves three players left on the depth chart: Urban, Kaufusi, and Henry.
Out of the three, Brent Urban is the most experienced. He was drafted by the Ravens in 2014, but dealt with injuries his first two years. He is most known for blocking a field goal against the Browns that lead to a game winning return for the Ravens. Last season, he played in all 16 games, but did not start. A lot of time was spent behind Jernigan and Guy.
Kaufusi broke his ankle in training camp last season, so we were not able to see what he can do. I think he will be one of the breakout candidates for the Ravens this upcoming season. He was an absolute monster at BYU and possesses the size at defensive end that teams dream of. I expect him to make a lot of noise in training camp.
Realistically, I see Kaufusi and Urban starting week 1 for the Ravens. Urban has the most experience out of the group and I think Kaufusi will catch on quickly. I think we will see Willie Henry spend time behind these two and hopefully find his way into the rotation.
