The Baltimore Ravens have made two incredible value picks in the 2017 NFL Draft. Tyus Bowser could be a potential superstar for the purple and black:

It’s hard to argue with the selection of Tyus Bowser, who has a world of potential. Bowser was a player that I had pegged as a perfect fit for the Ravens. If you liked Haason Reddick in the first round, you should love Bowser in the second. Bowser adds to an already great looking defense, but he adds something that Baltimore absolutely needed.

More from Ebony Bird

Bowser is a impact player off the edge. He’s versatile and he’s not just a pass rusher. He can do it all. As a pass rusher Bowser could make an instant impact. He had 8.5 sacks in the 2016 season and six in the prior season. He may be more than a pass rusher, but his pass rushing skills are a huge addition to the team.

Bowser ranks 44th on the Ebony Bird Big Board, so he is a great value. His tape is absolutely fun to watch. He’s a great athlete and it doesn’t take much to see that. The Ravens already fixed the secondary up this offseason. Now the Ravens have added that edge player they were looking for.

Passing On Wide Receiver May Haunt The Ravens:

If JuJu Smith-Schuster was the Ravens pick, I have to be honest, I’d be happier. Smith-Schuster is a borderline first round talent that has slipped to far in this draft. The Ravens need at wide receiver is something that could come back to bite them. Baltimore has  a number two receiver. The Ravens have a number three receiver. What the Ravens don’t have is a go to guy. That’s a problem and Smith-Schuster could have solved it.

The Ravens could still end up targeting a wide receiver in the third round, where they have two picks. If the Ravens keep waiting though, they will find themselves without an answer. Joe Flacco could find himself in a bad situation in terms of the talent around him.

Bottom Line:

The Ravens filled a need here. They got a great player, one who is only going to get better as time goes on. I have little doubt that Bowser will be the next great Ravens outside linebacker. There has been a long line of them from Peter Boulware and Jamie Sharper, to Jarrett Johnson and Terrell Suggs. Bowser is the next player in that progression and that’s exciting. Ravens fans should celebrate the pick, but keep in mind the team still has a big problem at wide receiver.
