I take a look at the Twitter reaction to the Baltimore Ravens draft selections in the second and third round

After an exciting first round, we had the second and third round yesterday. Ozzie Newsome and the Ravens decided to stick with defense in the second and third round of the draft. They followed their best available player philosophy and selected two pass rushers and an interior defensive lineman. Tim Williams, the Ravens last pick of the day, is an Alabama product. He will join teammate Marlon Humphrey in Baltimore.

The Ravens came into the day needing a pass rusher and they did just that. At this rate, the defense is going to be very good next season. With all the additions, it is clear the Ravens are going back to the defense first mentality. It’s the mentality that gave them the best defense in 2000 and led them to a Super Bowl win.

Loading up on the defense got a great reaction from some of the Ravens secondary. They seem to be pretty happy about the new additions on the defense.

When Tim Williams was on the board, even offensive coordinator Marty Morhinweg wanted him.

While Ravens players seemed to be happy about the defensive additions, fans did not seem all that happy with the disregard for the offense.

Not time to panic

Obviously the draft isn’t over but it is a bit concerning to see that the Ravens have not addressed the offense in any need. With that said, there is no time to panic right now. The Ravens have a chance to help out the offense today as they hold a 4th, 5th and 6th round pick. There are still quality players left to be drafted. For the Ravens, they will not stop after their last pick. They will be busy signing undrafted free agents to the roster. It is something that they do very well.
