The case for Boldin

There would less of an argument if the Ravens would have added a wide receiver in the draft, but they didn’t. For the first time in franchise history, they decided to not take a offensive skill player. Many fans did not like the decision of the organization.

If you look at the wide receiver depth chart, the top two receivers going into the season would be Mike Wallace and Breshad Perriman. Behind them are the likes of Chris Moore and Michael Campanaro. As a Ravens fan this does not make you very confident. Wallace eclipsed 1,000 yards in 2016 but is towards the back end of his career. Perriman has showed potential, but because of injuries he’s really only played one season. Moore and Campanaro are also inexperienced, but have untapped potential.

I definitely don’t think it’s time to sleep on this receiving core, but they do not have a solid possession receiver on the roster. Wallace and Perriman are more of speedy threats down field. They need a receiver that can find the sticks. Boldin is that kind of receiver and he’s already done it with the Ravens. He was a major key in the 2012 Super Bowl run. Even at the age of 36 he’s still shown he can produce in the league.
