The case for Mangold

Adding two rookie offensive lineman in Siragusa and Eluemunor is great, but neither of them are real options to take over at center. John Urschel is the most likely candidate. He’s had a chance to start there and if they were really that confident with him there, he’d be the starter now. Urschel can also play guard and very well be a candidate to start there.

The Ravens brought in Mangold before the draft, but he left without a deal. There is still a good chance that he could end up on the Ravens. When Mangold is healthy, he’s one of the better centers in the league. He’s shown it in his career, racking up seven Pro Bowls and two first team All-Pro honors.

With that being said, he would be a great addition if he’s healthy. We saw this before when the Ravens signed Matt Birk. He was on the back end of his career and provided a veteran presence for the offensive line. Mangold could do just that if he’s healthy. With younger players like the two rookies, Ronnie Stanley and Alex Lewis, having another veteran in the locker room never helps. Mangold has not had any problems off the field and would be a great player to bring in.
