Running back Terrance West has officially signed his restricted free agent tender

The Ravens announced yesterday that running back Terrance West has finally signed his restricted free agent tender. West was one of the last players in the league to sign it. This means he will make $1.797 million for the upcoming season. It was also announced today that cornerback Sheldon Price signed his exclusive rights free agent tender.

After a decent rookie season with the Browns in 2014, but was traded to the Titans. West struggled with maturity problems off the field. He played two games with the Titans before being released and round home with the Ravens. It made sense considering he played his college football at Towson University. The Ravens used him as a starting back 13 games last season and he played very well. He finished the season with 774 yards on the ground and five touchdowns. It could have been more if Marty Mornhinweg chose to run the ball.

With second year running back Kenneth Dixon suspended for four games, West will be the starting back at the beginning of the season. His north to south type running is the kind of play the Ravens have built their reputation on. Even when Dixon comes back, I expect West to continue to get the majority of the carries barring any problems or injuries. If he can stay healthy and in good standing with the organization, he has a bright future with the Ravens. They are still looking for a consistent back since Ray Rice.

Other transactions

Along with West signing his tender, the Ravens made some other moves. They released running back Stephen Houston and undrafted free agents Zach Terrell and Omarius Bryant. Terrell was an interesting prospect, but he did not seem to be a fit for the Ravens.
