Baltimore Ravens favored in half of games, according to ESPN

Spreads have been released for every NFL game through week 16. How do the Baltimore Ravens fair out?

For all you gambling folks out there, it’s never too early to start looking at spreads for the upcoming season. For Baltimore Ravens fans, it’s a chance to see how the team stacks up in the eyes of Vegas.

In an article Ben Fawkes of ESPN.com, spreads were put out by CG technology for every game from Week 1-16 for this upcoming NFL season. Week 17 was not included because not all teams are playing their starters the last week of the season.

Taking a look at spread for the Baltimore Ravens, the numbers make sense. The Ravens are favored in half of the games sixteen games featured. It makes sense for a team that finished with an 8-8 record last season. Their biggest spread as a favorite comes in week 2 against the Browns (-9.5). On the other hand their biggest spread as an underdog comes on the road against the Packers (-7). Fifteen out of the sixteen games are within a touchdown. They currently sit as favorites in three out of their four prime-time games for the season. Week 14 against the Steelers on Sunday night football they open up as a six point underdog (-6).

Even with the 24th easiest schedule in the league, the Ravens still have a tough road ahead of them. Their road to the playoffs never seems to be easy. The AFC North is always tough year in and year out and they will also play the NFC North. It is a very similar division to the AFC North. Other than the Bears who have struggled, there are three teams that have a chance to make the postseason. Going up against quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford is going to be a true test for the new secondary.
