Whether You Like It or Not, the Ravens Need Anquan Boldin:

Anquan Boldin is the only option left. Before the NFL Draft, the Ravens had John Ross on their radar. After running a record-breaking 4.22 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, the league blew up with excitement. Fans raved about the speed of Ross and many suggested that he could be the fastest player in the NFL. That speed in combination with his athleticism and playmaking ability could’ve done wonders to a subpar Ravens wide receiver corps. But not every Ravens fan saw it that way.

The idea of adding another fast wide receiver to a group with plenty of speed already in Breshad Perriman and Mike Wallace was unsettling for some Ravens fans. Like in the last tweet, many pleaded for a physical ‘go up and get it’ guy to fight for contested catches and make big plays. This is why I found it amusing to see how some Ravens fans treated the idea of bringing back Anquan Boldin.

I find it hard to believe that so many have lost faith in ‘Q’. Maybe it’s his age, maybe it’s his decrease in yardage in recent seasons. But if you’re looking to compliment speed with a smashmouth, tough-nosed presence to the receiving core, then look no further than Anquan Boldin. Not only is he the best bet available to improving the passing attack, he’s also the safest bet in improving Flacco’s game as well.
