Ray Lewis in 2000:

Ray Lewis was the Super Bowl XXXV MVP. He could have been the NFL MVP. Marshall Faulk won the award and the Hall of Fame running back was deserving. Lewis was pretty special though and he did lead his team to the Super Bowl. Lewis didn’t do it alone. The 2000 Ravens defense was legendary. You had an all-time great defense around Lewis, but he was the catalyst. Lewis took a great defense and made it historically great.

The Ravens offense was the greatest argument for the Ravens best defensive player to win the MVP. Trent Dilfer may have righted the ship to a degree, but the offense wasn’t the reason the team was winning. After five games without a touchdown the Ravens went on an win-streak for the ages and won it all. Number 52 was the heart and soul of that team and he was the best player on the field every week.

Say what you want, the Ravens should have seen one of these players crowned as the NFL MVP. These players had incredible feats. Reed’s could have been MVP season, was the second time he had nine interceptions. Jamal Lewis did something only six other players have ever done. One thing is for sure, these performances were unbelievable.
