The Baltimore Ravens have signed free agent wide receiver Jeremy Maclin

After patiently waiting this offseason, the Baltimore Ravens have finally got wide receiver help. They have signed free agent Jeremy Maclin on a two-year deal. Details on the money have not been released yet.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

The Ravens also made their official statement on the signing:

After visiting the Bills and Ravens last week, Maclin took the weekend to make his decision. The Ravens did not have as much money to offer, but it seems like that didn’t matter.

It sure helped to have some great recruiters on the team as well. Safeties Tony Jefferson and Eric Weddle have been pursuing Maclin on social media, urging him to sign with the Ravens. Even recently retired wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. met with Maclin on his visit.

This is a huge pickup for the Ravens. After holding off on a receiver early in free agency and in the draft, they finally pulled the trigger. Maclin immediately comes in and bolsters this wide receiver depth chart. Joe Flacco now has another speedy target to throw to along with Mike Wallace and Breshad Perriman.

The signing comes at perfect timing. The Ravens are set to start mandatory mini-camp tomorrow. According to Ravens staff writer Ryan Mink, Maclin has already signed his contract and passed his physical, but will fly back to Baltimore tomorrow.
