The Ravens have some questions to answer regarding their offensive line

On Monday, the Ravens significantly improved their receiving core when they signed Jeremy Maclin to a two-year deal. Before the Maclin signing, wide receiver was arguably the weakest position on the Ravens’ roster, but with the addition of the 29-year-old wideout, the position with the most question marks now appears to be the offensive line.

Looking at the offensive line right now, there appear to be three clear-cut starters:

  • Ronnie Stanley – LT
  • Alex Lewis – LG
  • Marshal Yanda – RG

Those three players make up a pretty good place to start for the Ravens. Despite being rookies, Stanley and Lewis manned the left side of the line for the first half of the 2016 season, and played pretty well. Lewis filled in for Stanley as the tackle dealt with a foot injury, and he also saw time at right guard when Yanda slid over to left guard due to complications with his left shoulder.

Yanda, a six-time Pro-Bowler, entering his 11th season as the clear-cut leader of the unit, is still one of the best lineman in the game. He has not returned to the field yet in the Ravens’ offseason workouts because of a shoulder procedure, and when he returns he will have to answer questions regarding the strength of his shoulder. Yanda has returned from injuries before and has not missed a beat, but with his advancing age the healing process might be a little slower for him this time around.

Beyond these three players, uncertainty surrounds the rest of the offensive line.
