Baltimore Ravens offseason report card: Grading all the moves
While the offseason isn’t over, let’s grade the work of Ozzie Newsome and Eric DeCosta:
The 2017 season is creeping up on us. While we try to distract ourselves from the football shape void in our heart with grilling and summer swimming, training camp isn’t far away. How did the Ravens do this offseason? Today we will give an overall grade to the Baltimore Ravens for their offseason efforts. It’s time to have the fans, sign their teams’ report card. We begin with the first big splash the Ravens made in the free agency market:
It’s hard not to love the combination the Ravens created in the back-end of their defense. Tony Jefferson is one of the best safeties in the league. The Ravens now have two incredible football smart players leading their secondary. On top of the football IQ is the range that both safeties have. Weddle and Jefferson are both capable of playing the free and strong safety spot. Jefferson’s biggest impact will be felt when the Ravens play a team with a top tight end. He should be able to put a clamp on the tight end, giving the Ravens an answer to a lingering problem. Jefferson is almost like an extra linebacker and his cover skills are really good. As long as he stays healthy, this move is a golden one for the Ravens. With two good players in the back-end, there is less pressure on Jimmy Smith and the cornerbacks.. SS. Baltimore Ravens.
