The Upgraded Secondary

The secondary is clearly better going into the 2017 season. Tony Jefferson can do a lot more than Lardarius Webb can at safety. The Ravens now have two safeties who can do both jobs in the back-end of their defense. The leadership the Ravens have here is off the charts and that should help the cornerbacks.

Speaking of cornerbacks, the Ravens added some good ones. Marlon Humphrey may take some time getting acclimated to the NFL, but he should be great. Brandon Carr is a reliable cornerback. Covering the slot receiver, Boykin can be a difference maker. The secondary is so dramatically different, and that’s a good thing.

Baltimore also took away a lot of wasted roster spaces. Matt Elam’s career could be done, Jerraud Powers retired and Kyle Arrington was rightfully cut.
